“I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3)

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him” (Psalms 25:14). The normal state of being for the saint is supposed to be, “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:11). You’re supposed to “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). If you’re saved, and this isn’t your experience, you need to consider what you believe.

Rejoice always. You can do this if you believe, “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). It may not be your preference, but if you are going to be the kind of Christian the Apostles describe as normal, you must believe everything God causes or allows in your life is for your ultimate good, according to His purpose. Without this living faith, you’ll always be on the fence between trusting God and doubting Him.

Pray without ceasing. You can only do this if you’re aware God knows your thoughts and feelings. When bad thoughts come, “let your requests be made known to God”. For example, if someone hurt you, every time the bad thought comes, pray for their good and especially, for their salvation. Pray without ceasing, and eventually, “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds” (Philippians 4:6-7).

In everything give thanks. The proactive way of countering a lack of faith is by giving thanks in things that bother you. Just as you make a bad thought into a good prayer by praying for your enemy, you remove all the fear and doubt about something bad by thanking God for it, because you know He’ll work good out of it, according to His purpose.
This is the will of God. Until you accept this by faith, you won’t submit to His will unconditionally. You’ll be a baby, never sure you’re saved.
