“The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men” (Psalms 33:13)
This is perhaps the understatement of all time. He knows their sorrows (Exodus 3:7). He’s a refuge for the oppressed (Psalms 9:9). He’s a helper of the fatherless (Psalms 10:14). He’s near to those who have a broken heart (Psalms 34:18).
He’s a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalms 46:1). He’ll never permit the righteous to be moved (Psalms 55:22). He daily loads His saints with benefits (Psalms 68:19). He comforts in affliction, for His Word gives Life (Psalms 119:50). He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalms 147:3). He gives power to the weak (Isaiah 40:29). He’s a stronghold in the day of trouble (Nahum 1:7).
How can we withhold our love from the One who numbers the hairs of our heads, marks our path, and orders our ways? He cares not only for our temporary needs, but infinitely more important, our spiritual needs. Our prayers are precious to Him. “The eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).
If you want to experience this, heed the invitation of Christ: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28–30).
