“But as He went” (Luke 8:42)
Ruth did the best she could with what God gave her. She humbly gleaned until God gave her greater things to do. If you want God to use you for great things, glean.

When Jesus was walking through a crowd of people to raise a girl from the dead, a woman touches Him, and healing virtue flowed from His body. “Jesus said, ‘Who touched Me?’ …. she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, "Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well’” (Luke 8:45-48).

Healing virtue flowed from Christ when He walked on Earth, and it continues to flow from Him as He intercedes for saints in Heaven (Hebrews 7:25). What a delightful truth! If your Lord was ready to heal the sick and bless the needy who didn’t know Him, then, as His blood-bought saint, you shouldn’t hesitate to ask Him for things. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14-15). Saints trust that God knows what’s best for them, and they don’t ask for things they know God doesn’t want them to have.

“Whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him” (1 John 3:22-24).
