“When they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him” (Mark 9:15)

Because of all the miracles, healings and exorcisms, it’s no wonder the crowds were greatly amazed. While the religious leaders did everything in their power to discredit Christ, the common people ran to Him. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai after forty days of fellowship with God, his countenance glowed, forcing him to put a veil over his face, because the common people couldn’t bear to look upon the glory. Not so with Christ, when He walked on Earth.

Even after He glowed on the Mount of Transfiguration, with greater glory than Moses, there’s no record of people being made uncomfortable looking at Him. Though Jesus is holy and just, yet blended with His purity, there’s so much of truth and grace, that sinners run to Him amazed at His goodness, fascinated by His love; they greet Him, become His disciples, and love Him more than their own lives ( Luke 14:26). He bore the wrath of God, and in His death revealed more of God's justice than Sinai ever could, but that justice is now vindicated, and is forever the guardian of believers in Christ.

“When Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:15-18).

Behold His flowing wounds and thorn-crowned head! He’s the Lord of love, and more tender than the lawgiver. He bore the wrath of God, and in His death revealed more of God's justice than Sinai ever could, but that justice is now vindicated, and forever the guardian of believers in Jesus.

Look to the bleeding Savior, and feel His attraction of love, fly to His arms, and you’ll be saved.
