“Forget not all His benefits” (Psalms 103:2)

This devotion is directed at saints who can’t stay off the internet. Unfortunately, many church-goers are caught in the cesspool that’s available day and night on their ever-present “smart phone”. Many spend endless hours in self-gratification, while family members each go off into their corners to enjoy the counterfeit creation.

The internet fantasy is designed to make you feel, you are the god of your own world. Programs are designed to give you exactly what you want, to make you feel special. It’s no wonder, even saints can become addicted. If you prefer the internet to real life, your usefulness to God will be severely limited. I don’t fault sinners…after all, their purpose in life is self-gratification. But saints are warned, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:15-16).

Count your blessings. Are you taking God for granted? Has He been with you through trials? Has He blessed you and yours? Surely the goodness of God is the same in all ages. The fact that modern saints wallow in the flesh, isn’t God’s fault. You owe him your eternal life…He’s given you the power to turn off your pocketgod. For more on this subject, click here.
“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? … The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously?” (James 4:3-4).
