“I in them” (John 17:23)
Christianity is a supernatural religion. If you’re a saint, “the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Romans 8:9).
Before He was sacrificed, Christ told His disciples: “’I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever - the Spirit of truth … you know Him, for He dwells WITH you and will be IN you” (John 14:15-17).
The indwelling Holy Spirit was promised to saints as the seal and experiential reality of the New Covenant. Before Christ’s sacrifice, the Holy Spirit was WITH the disciples. After the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was INthe disciples.
“You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:13). “The blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Hebrews 9:14). “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit” (1 John 4:13). “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1).
This isn’t just a doctrine, but an experiential reality of every saint. This Biblical truth has been under attack since the day of Pentecost. Most Christian denominations emphasize salvation as coming through their ordinances. Many denominations have  evolved into humanistic appeasers of the world, offering salvation without any expectation of holiness.
So if you’ve never experienced “that old-time religion”, seek God. “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13).
