“Exceedingly great and precious promises” (2 Peter 1:4)
Christians are encouraged to cooperate with the indwelling Holy Spirit to become more like God. “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:3-4).
God’s given you great and precious promises to make you a partaker of His nature, but you must cooperate with Him to stay free of lust. Are you still caught in the cycle of sin and regret? It’s not only possible to be free from guilt, but expected. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit”. (Romans 8:1). For more on this subject, click here.
If you’re walking according to the indwelling Holy Spirit, ask God to reveal more of Himself to you. “Ask, and it will be given to you ... If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:9-13). The One who made this promise is God.
So if you’re on the lukewarm fence, you can have the power to get off. “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him” (Hebrews 10:38).
