“But the one who was healed did not know who it was” (John 5:13)

Christ told the crippled man by the pool of Siloam, “rise, take up your bed and walk" on the Sabbath. “The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, "‘It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed’. He answered them, ‘He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk’. Then they asked him, ‘Who is the Man who said to you, 'Take up your bed and walk'? But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, ‘See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you’” (John 5:10-14).

1) The man knew he was healed because he could walk.
2) The man didn’t know anything specific about Christ who healed him.
3) God can heal anyone, anywhere, anytime, and the traditions of man won’t stop Him.
4) The healed man broke the tradition of the religious leaders when he obeyed Christ.
5) Christ reminded him to sin no more. Now, let’s apply these principles to the people God saves:

1) A newly saved Christian knows he’s saved, when his heart is supernaturally changed, he has the indwelling Holy Spirit shedding love in his heart, and most importantly, he possesses the saving faith and power to not return to the sin repented of.
2) Newly-saved Christians can know very little about Christ when He saves them.
3) God can save anyone, anywhere, anytime, and the traditions of man won’t stop Him.
4) Newly saved people must often break the traditions of their family, friends, and religion in order to obey Christ.
5) Christ reminds newly-saved Christians to sin no more.

Remember that newly-saved Christians have Satan, their Old Man and the flesh trying to drag them back to sin. Encourage them to read their Bible, do regular devotions, and get involved with a Bible-based church. Help them replace old friends with new friends who will encourage them in the faith. “Receive one who is weak in the faith ... God has received him. Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand” (Romans 14:1-4).
