“I have seen servants on horses, While princes walk on the ground like servants” (Ecclesiastes 10:7)
We live in an upside-down world. The dishonest prosper, while the upright barely survive. Fools get famous while the wise are ignored. This is a fact of providence that will be corrected in heaven. “When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish, And the hope of the unjust perishes. The righteous is delivered from trouble, And it comes to the wicked instead” (Proverbs 11:7-8).
When Christ came to Earth, although He was King of kings, He became Servant of servants, so, it’s no wonder His followers, who are princes of His blood, should also be considered inferior and contemptible. The world is upside-down, so the first are last and the last first. See how the sons of Satan flaunt their sin during their short stay on Earth! What delusion! How they exalt themselves! David wandered in the wilderness, while Saul luxuriated in his palace, but where are David and Saul today? Who, in Hell, wouldn’t want to change places with the humblest saint living today in obscurity? Christ asked, “What will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:35). For people in Hell, the question comes too late.
“God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:7-9).
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). “Present … your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you” (Romans 6:13-14). The Holy Spirit loves order, and He sets our powers and faculties in due rank and place, giving the highest room to those spiritual faculties which link us with the great King; let’s not disturb the divine arrangement, but ask for grace that we may bring our body into subjection. He didn’t save us so our passions could rule us, but so we, as kings, could reign in Christ Jesus over the triple kingdom of body, soul and spirit, to the glory of God the Father.
