“Who heals all your diseases” (Psalms 103:3)
We are all suffering from the disease of sin, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Praise God, if you’re saved, you no longer have to listen to your Old Man, and your New Man gives you the desire and ability to obey Christ in all things. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new ... He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
But don’t think your battle with sin is over. All the Letters of the New Testament were written to Christians, who were told, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us” (1 John 1:8-10). But what a comfort it is to know we have a great Physician who’s both able and willing to heal us when we stumble!
If you stumble, remember, He’s thoroughly qualified to diagnose and heal your sin, because He not only created you, but knows exactly how you think and feel, having become a man Himself, so He’s now the Perfect Representative to plead your cause in Heaven and help you when you’re tempted (Hebrews 4:15-16).
Whatever your spiritual sickness, go to Him. There’s no wound He can’t heal. The only thing that can prevent your healing is your staying away from your Savior. “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
“A righteous man may fall seven times And rise again” (Proverbs 24:16).
