“Remember the word to Your servant, Upon which You have caused me to hope” (Psalms 119:49)
Whatever your need, you’re likely to find a promise in the Bible that applies to it.
Are you faint and feeble because your way is rough and you’re weary? Here’s a promise – “He gives power to the weak" (Isaiah 40:29). When you read a promise in the Bible, take it to the great Promiser, and ask Him to fulfil His Word. Are you seeking after Christ, and thirsting for closer communion with Him? This promise shines like a star upon you - "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).
Here’s a promise you can take to the throne continually; go to God over and over again with this - "O Lord God, the Word which You have spoken … do as You have said” (2 Samuel 7:25). Are you distressed because of sin, and burdened with the heavy load of guilt? Listen to these words - "I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins” (Isaiah 43:25).
Are you afraid, after a lifetime of bearing fruit, you might depart from God, and He might cast you away? If that’s your fear, take this Word of grace to the throne and plead it: "The mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you” (Isaiah 54:10). If you’ve lost the sweet sense of the Savior's presence, and are seeking Him with your whole heart, remember these promises: “‘Return to Me,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘and I will return to you’” (Zechariah 1:3); “For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you” (Isaiah 54:7).
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14). Consider God’s Word to be the depository of the riches of Heaven. Whatever your fears or wants, go to the Bank of Faith with your Father's note in hand, saying, “Remember the word to Your servant, Upon which You have caused me to hope”.
