“I will be their God” (Jeremiah 31:33)
This promise is all you need to make you happy. If you pour this promise in your cup, you can say with David, “My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever” (Psalms 23:5-6).
If God is on your side, you have everything. Desire is as insatiable as death (Proverbs 30:16), but He who fills the oceans can slake your thirst. Your deepest desires, who can measure it? But “godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6) because He satisfies when all else fails.
But there’s more than quiet satisfaction with God. There’s a deep sea of bliss, a shoreless ocean of delight; come, bathe your spirit in it; swim for a thousand years and you’ll never reach a shore; dive throughout eternity, and you’ll never find a bottom. "I will be their God." If this doesn’t make your eyes sparkle, and your heart exalt with joy unspeakable and full of glory, then you can be sure your soul is defective.
