“Be thankful to Him, and bless His name” (Psalms 100:4)
The three main reasons the saint should be thankful and Bless Christ.
1) Be thankful for what He did for you. The saint that forgets what Christ did for him, is just one step away from returning to dead works in a vain attempt to please God (Hebrews 6:1). If you’re thankful to Christ for your being forgiven and set free from sin, you’ll have self-control, godliness, brotherly kindness and love. “For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins” (2 Peter 1:5-9). If serving Christ is a drudgery, you need to repent and remember from where you have fallen, return to your first love, and do the first good works (Revelation 2:4-5).
2) Be thankful for what He does for you. The apostles constantly reminded the saints that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
* “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17).
* “Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).
* Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
3) Be thankful for what He will do for you. You have “an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you … In this you greatly rejoice” (1 Peter 1:4-6).
