“These seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel” (Zechariah 4:10)
This refers to the seven eyes of God that oversee the building of the kingdom of the Christ. A few versus later, we read, “Behold, the Man whose name is the BRANCH! From His place He shall branch out, And He shall build the temple of the LORD … He shall bear the glory, And shall sit and rule on His throne; So He shall be a priest on His throne” (Zechariah 6:12-13).
Most of the Jewish leaders rejected Christ, so He told them, “the stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. This was the LORD’s doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes? Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it” (Matthew 21:42-43).
If you’re saved, you should be bearing fruit, since you’re part of Christ’s building: “You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5).
In order to grow in Christ, you must participate in a church that unashamedly teaches and does the Word of God. “Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25).
This is a serious business, in order for you to “no longer be a child, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ” (Ephesians 4:14-15).
