“At evening time it shall happen That it will be light” (Zechariah 14:7)
You may fear the changes brought on by old age, but be assured, Christ will be with you in the evening of your life. To the extent you take advantage of the grace God gives you when you’re young, you’ll be prepared for the challenges of old age. “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
For saints who’ve diligently used the means of grace, old age can be their most productive years. The follies of youth are past, instinctive lusts are diminished, and the wisdom born of experience has increased.  They didn’t grow weary in doing good, and in the final season of life, they reap the benefits (Galatians 6:9).
                1) They’re completely confident in their God. 2) They’re submitted to the Lordship of Christ, no matter what comes. 3) They’ve learned God’s strength is perfected in weakness. 4) They lived a life of faith working through love, so they are able to “bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, endure all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7).
Most important, if they don’t fear death and the judgement, love has been perfected in them. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18).
So if you’re young, “add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5–8).
