“Your paths drip with abundance” (Psalms 65:11)
The Apostle Paul told the Philippian church, “my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). Saints need to be reminded God’s in control, so they will consciously yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Your normal experience should be “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17), for there is “no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1).
Your assurance that God’s in control of your life will increase to the extent you know you’ve obeyed Him in all things. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6).
On the other hand, if you treat God as a spare tire, your religion will be shallow, polluted with many doubts and fears, and not sparkling with the joy of the Lord.
Oh! the delights of fellowship with Christ! Few Christians understand it. They live in the outer court, and rarely enter the Holy of Holies. We’re supposed to act as priests, and “offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5), but instead, many “grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30).
But you, reader, “Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:6–7).
