“A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out” (Leviticus 6:13)
Keep the altar of your private prayer always burning. Continually welcome Christ into everything that happens during the day. No matter the trial, He will walk with you through it. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). The normal waking state of the saint is moment-by-moment prayer and thanksgiving.
“Let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name”(Hebrews 13:15). “Singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:16-17).
Do you forget God during the day? If so, this is a sign of decay. Is your fire smothered beneath worldly conformity? Have you left your first love? Have you stopped thanking God in everything and for everything? “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works” (Revelation 2:4). Make a “melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:19-20).
This isn’t a hard concept: If you have faith that God is ultimately in control of your life, you can “give thanks always for all things”.
