“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7)
Saints are not only initially cleansed, but continually cleansed. It doesn’t say we will be cleansed. There are many that hope they will be cleansed just before they go to Heaven, but Scripture reveals something infinitely better. We are cleansed right now. Forgiveness of sin is now, a privilege of today, a joy for this moment.
I was cleansed, and I will continue to be cleansed until my body is changed supernaturally. “We shall all be changed - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet … For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:51-53).
I pray the Holy Spirit gives you a revelation of your sins, which were too many to count, and your need of continual cleansing. But whether your bill is a foot long, or a mile, Christ paid it. The blood of Jesus Christ paid Peter’s bill for denying Him and John’s bill for not loving Him enough. Blessed completeness! What a sweet theme to dwell upon before you go to sleep.
“Sins against a holy God; Sins against His righteous laws; Sins against His love, His blood; Sins against His name and cause; Sins immense as is the sea- From them all He cleanseth me.”
