“As the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb” (Matthew 28:1)
Learn from Mary Magdalene how to fellowship with the Lord. Notice how she sought her Savior very early in the morning. If you run to Christ at the very first opportunity, that’s a good sign. If you have to wait until you think you’ve completely stopped sinning, you don’t understand the love-grace relationship with Christ. The saint that communes with Christ hungers and thirsts for Him, so when he stumbles, he quickly repents, gets right back up, and keeps going with Christ.
She sought Him with boldness. When the disciples ran away, Mary Magdalene stayed with Christ while He died (John 19:25). Your friends may be “fair-weather” Christians who forget Him when they go to parties. They might say you take religion too seriously, or try to get you to share in their sin…forget them, and press into Christ. The “cowardly, unbelieving, and abominable” who draw back, and deny Him, will most likely end up in Hell (Revelation 21:8). “Whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth…a man's enemies will be those of his own household” (Matthew 10:33-36).
Remain faithful to Christ when all else abandon Him. The secret of maintaining your relationship with God is to not allow anything to compete with your love for Him. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37) is only logical if you “do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15).
