“When I cry out to You, Then my enemies will turn back; This I know, because God is for me” (Psalms 56:9)

“God is for me!”. So much is contained in this verse for saints.

He was “for you" before the worlds were made; He was “for you” when He gave His only Son. He was “for you” when He smote Him, and laid the full weight of His wrath upon Him. He was “for you”, when you rebelled against Him. He was “for you”, when He drew you unto Christ, enabling you to seek His face. He was “for you”, when He supernaturally changed your heart and indwelt you with the Holy Spirit. He was “for you” in many struggles, in dangers and temptations from within and without - how could you have survived if He hadn’t been “for you”?

He’s “for you” with the infinity of His being; with the omnipotence of His love; with the infallibility of His wisdom. He’s “for you”, eternally and unchanging; He’ll be “for you”, when He rolls up the skies like a scroll, and every mountain and island is moved out of place. He’ll be “for you”, throughout eternity.

“If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” … we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:31-37).
