“He who opens and no one shuts” (Revelation 3:7)

No one can override or prevent what Christ wants. He says, “He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens ... I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it ... Because you have kept My command to persevere” (Revelation 3:7-10). This is the consistent message of Christ in the Book of Revelation: only saints that persevere are saved. The Greek word translated “persevere” is hupomone, which means “stay under”. Saints must “stay under the Lordship of Christ”. The implication of Christ’s warning is clear: if saints can’t lose their salvation, then it means, People who don’t stay under the Lordship of Christ, were never saved.

This is confirmed when Christ says the saints who haven’t  defiled their garments, "shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life” (Revelation 3:4-5). The Greek word translated “worthy” is axios, which means “self-evident proof”. The implication of Christ’s warning is clear: if saints can’t lose their salvation, then it means, People who don’t possess self-evident proof of salvation, were never saved.

We know the names of saints were written in the Book of Life before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8), so why does Christ specifically say He won’t blot out the names of saints that overcome? The implication of Christ’s warning is clear: if saints can’t lose their salvation, then it means, People who don’t overcome, were never saved.

This is confirmed with “The city had no need of the sun ... those who are saved shall walk in its light ... But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles ... but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life” (Revelation 21:23-27). The implication of Christ’s warning is clear: if saints can’t lose their salvation, then it means, People who defile, were never saved.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven ... I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” (Matthew 7:21-23).
